Slumpy's Artist Spotlight: Lucas Krenzin
Lucas was born in California and has lived in several countries throughout his childhood. He draws from his experiences living in many different cultures growing up. Having been a musician since his early teens Lucas has always enjoyed expressing the inner and outer world through music. It wasn't untill later the exploration into visual arts began first with painting, then with glass.
Studying glass with his uncle, a fellow artist and taking several fused glass courses, he found the relationship glass has with light to be its strength. To play on the ability to reflect light and be illuminated by light, mirroring the ability we have as humans.
You will find silver and copper in a lot of his work because of its reaction with glass at high temperatures creating an aura of color. Some pieces are created for nothing more than making something visually striking and other work has a more interprative aspect pointing to and hinting at the organizing principles and patterns of the universe.
Lucas has been represented at HackerStudio Gallery and is currently represented at The Sanctuary of Davidson. You could also find his work in several restaurants, Mathews Lighting, The Sleepy Poet, Banyan Tree Massage and at his Etsy shop Krenzin11.
